#459 General held 76 of ~110 settings (11 screens). Its sections now live
on pages named for what people come to do:
Account, Appearance, Messages (incl. editor, date and time),
Notifications, Calls & audio, Privacy & security (privacy options +
the former Devices page), Data & storage (storage, sync, your data),
Desktop (desktop app only), Emojis & stickers, Advanced (the former
Developer Tools + "show hidden events" / "legacy username colour"),
About.
The longest page is now ~3 screens (Appearance). Settings opens on
Account. Deep links keep working: "devices" lands on Privacy & security,
the old "general" on Appearance, the update notice on Desktop. Text that
pointed at the old page names is updated. The push-rule editor gets one
line explaining the Matrix terms. Remaining Title Case labels on Account
and Devices are sentence case.
#460 Chat background, seasonal theme and avatar decoration grids sit
behind one row: the current choice and a Change button (the first two
close after a choice; decorations keep their Save step).

- #456 Copy pass: sentence case for every setting title and section,
plainer names ("Hide joins and leaves", "Link previews", "Emoji
style: Twemoji", "Rejoin calls after a restart", "Also use the
browser's noise suppression", "Push-to-talk key"...) and grammar fixes
("when messages arrive", "Play a sound when a new message arrives",
blocked users "Enter their Matrix ID"). Labels only: no setting is
renamed in storage.
- #455 One theme control: Theme: System / Light / Dark. System shows the
light and dark variant pickers, Light or Dark one picker of that kind.
Replaces the System switch plus a Theme dropdown that was greyed out
whenever the switch was on. Uses the existing settings (no migration);
picking a variant also remembers it for System.
- #457 Remove the "Block Messages" stub from Notifications; the GIF
picker row only appears in builds with a GIF key.
- #458 (part 1) "Export/Import Messages Data" -> "Export/Import
encryption keys", with a sentence on when you need it.

RuleModeSwitcher rebuilt a rule's actions from scratch, so changing the
mode of e.g. .m.rule.is_user_mention silently dropped its highlight tweak
account-wide. Derive the existing highlight/custom-sound tweaks from the
rule's current actions and pass them through as NotificationModeOptions.
Adds getNotificationModeOptionsFromActions + unit tests.

- PushRuleEditor: the enable Switch initialized its state from pushRule.enabled
once (useState initializer), so a rule toggled on another device left the
Switch stale until remount. A useEffect now resyncs on pushRule.enabled
change. pushRule flows from useAccountData(m.push_rules), which re-renders on
sync, so the resync is genuinely reached; no optimistic-update conflict (the
toggle sets state only after the PUT resolves).
- About: the "Homeserver Support" panel fetched /.well-known/matrix/support from
the client-API URL (mx.getHomeserverUrl()). Per MSC1929 that file lives at the
MXID server-name host (like /.well-known/matrix/client), which differs on
delegated/split-domain servers. Now fetched from https://{mx.getDomain()};
identical target for non-delegated servers (incl. Lotus), spec-correct for
delegated ones, and degrades gracefully (catch → panel hidden) otherwise.
Bug-hunt findings from LOTUS_TODO. Two review agents; both confirmed effective
and non-regressing (full account-data re-render chain traced; CORS/host edge
weighed). Gate-green (tsc, eslint, prettier, 914 tests, build).

Extracted the folds-native dropdown (Button+PopOut+Menu) from General.tsx into a
shared components/settings-select/SettingsSelect.tsx, and used it to replace raw
native <select> elements (which render OS-styled and broke under non-default
themes via colorScheme:'dark'):
- Profile "auto-clear after" select
- PushRuleEditor add-rule mode select (dropped the now-unused handleModeChange)
The form-tied timezone <select> in Profile is left for a follow-up (it's wired
to native form submission + a disabled state and needs more care).

P2-12: Server ACL viewer/editor in room settings (Server ACL tab);
reads m.room.server_acl state event; allow/deny server lists with
wildcard validation; allow IP literals toggle; power-level gated
(edit requires sufficient PL, otherwise read-only view)
