Desktop build number isn't shown anywhere, and the web version is a static string #276

What happens
Settings → About shows v{pkg.version} from cinny's package.json, currently v4.12.7-lotus (src/app/features/settings/about/About.tsx:117), on both web and desktop.

  • Desktop: the installed nightly (for example 4.12.377) is never shown, which is the number needed when someone reports a desktop or updater bug.
  • Web: the deploy changes many times a day while the version string stays the same, so you can't tell which build someone is on.

Fix ideas

  • Desktop: read Tauri's getVersion() (or add an app_version command) and show "Desktop 4.12.377 · Web 4.12.7-lotus ()".
  • Web: inject the git short SHA and build date at build time (define: { __BUILD__ } in vite.config) and show them in About.

More context

Why it matters: in the desktop updater bugs this week ("my cachyos client is still failing to update"), the first question was which desktop build was installed. Today the only place that shows it is the OS package manager.

Acceptance criteria:

  • Desktop: About shows Desktop 4.12.x (Tauri) alongside the web version.
  • Web: About shows the deploy's short commit and date.
