Room header: opening Threads or Gallery shifts the header icons, so a second click opens Widgets instead of closing the panel #263

What happens
With the member list open (the desktop default), clicking Threads or Media Gallery swaps the member drawer for a wider panel. The header gets narrower and every icon slides left, so the button now under the cursor is Widgets. Clicking again to close the panel opens Widgets instead.

Measured with Playwright at 1440×900 (aria-label x positions):

initial: threads 965 gallery 1005 widgets 1045
after Toggle threads: threads 891 gallery 931 widgets 971 (−74 px) → under cursor: "Toggle widgets"
after Toggle gallery: threads 911 gallery 951 widgets 991 (−54 px) → under cursor: "Toggle widgets"
second click at the same spot → Widgets panel opens

The screenshot shows the "Widgets" tooltip appearing right after clicking Threads.

Fix ideas

  • Give the right-hand panels (members / threads / gallery / widgets) one shared width, so swapping them doesn't resize the room view.
  • Or anchor the header's toggle group to the right edge.

More context

Why the shift: the member drawer is ~266 px wide, the Threads panel ~340 px and the Gallery ~320 px (desktop 1440 px). The room view shrinks by the difference, and the header's right-aligned icon group moves with it.

Who: desktop/laptop web and the desktop app, any width where the member list is shown by default.

Manual repro

  1. With the member list open, click the Threads icon.
  2. Without moving the mouse, click again.
  3. Actual: the Widgets panel opens. Expected: Threads closes.

Acceptance criteria: clicking the same icon twice toggles the same panel at 1280 and 1440 px; a Playwright test clicks Threads twice and asserts no panel is open.
