Verify first how the upload card behaves today (components/upload-card, UploadBoard, RoomInput paste path): when an image is pasted, where does focus go, is the caption field visible without an extra click, and does Enter send the upload + caption together?
If focus stays in the composer with an empty caption card: proposal is to auto-focus the new card's caption input when the paste/drop added exactly one image and the composer was empty; Enter sends; Escape returns to the composer. No change for multi-file drops.
