The login page looked for an OAuth issuer in .well-known
(m.authentication), which matrix.org no longer publishes, so its users
got the password / SSO compatibility forms. Detect native OAuth the way
the SDK finds the auth server for refresh: load /auth_metadata next to
the login flows. When present:
- Login shows "Continue with <server>" only (as Element does); a legacy
SSO loginToken coming back from a redirect still completes.
- Register opens the auth server's sign-up page (prompt=create, where
prompt_values_supported says so) instead of the legacy forms.
Servers without it (Lotus) are unchanged.
Checked against the live servers: matrix.org login and register show
"Continue with matrix.org" and no password form; matrix.lotusguild.org
keeps its password form.

Picks up three releases of MatrixRTC / delayed-event fixes and
matrix-sdk-crypto-wasm 18.3.1 -> 18.9.0.
SDK 43 moved OAuth (MSC3861) into the SDK and dropped oidc-client-ts, so
the native-OAuth sign-in is ported:
- login discovers the auth server via /auth_metadata, registers with
OAuth2.registerClient, and keeps the PKCE verifier + device in its own
sessionStorage entry keyed by `state` (single use; CSRF check);
- refresh is done by the SDK (oauthClientId + onTokenRefresh); the #16
cross-tab protection is kept by a narrow guard on refresh-token grants
(the SDK calls the global fetch for OAuth, not fetchFn), which
serialises them with a Web Lock and adopts a sibling tab's tokens;
- logout and forced logout revoke via mx.logout() (the SDK revokes at
the auth server for OAuth sessions);
- the callback page parsed its params on every render, re-running the
single-use code exchange in a loop; parsed once now.
Also: notification_type is deprecated in MSC4075 (ring in DMs, notify
elsewhere when omitted), _onRTCSessionMemberUpdate ->
ensureRecalculateSessionMembers, precache limit 6 -> 10 MB for the
7.8 MB crypto wasm.

public/res/ carried two DIFFERENT files whose names differ only in case —
Lotus.png (19 897 B, the 256px logo used by the welcome page, auth layout,
OIDC config and About) and lotus.png (2 073 B, the notification icon).
Windows and macOS filesystems are case-insensitive, so a checkout there
collapses them into one path: one of the two references then resolves to
the wrong bytes or to nothing, which is why the desktop client's home
logo rendered as alt text from
http://localhost:44548/public/res/Lotus.png.
Renamed the logo to lotus-logo.png and updated its four references;
verified no case-only filename collisions remain anywhere in the repo,
and that both logos still load (256x256 on the welcome page and About).

The redirect back with ?error=invalid_client is the only place a stale
dynamic client id is ever rejected; the callback now resolves the issuer
from the SDK's stored mx_oidc_<state> entry and invalidates the cache so
the next attempt re-registers. Degrades to a no-op if the state entry is
gone. Unit-tested.

A transient network/discovery failure invalidated the cached dynamic
client and registered a fresh one on every retry. Invalidate only on
invalid_client / unauthorized_client or a 400/401 from the provider.
Unit-tested.

Swap the logo/favicon URL constants from the inline
`${trimTrailingSlash(import.meta.env.BASE_URL)}/public/res/...` form to the
repo's existing `withOriginBaseUrl(getOriginBaseUrl(), '/public/res/...')`
helper (already used here for the OIDC callback URL). Functionally equivalent —
same /public/res/ target, resolves in dev and the static-copied prod build — and
it keeps the logo URL absolute and consistent with clientUri for the OIDC
logoUri. No build-config change (publicDir stays false).

Importing images from public/ (`import X from '../../public/res/*.png'`) is
fragile under Vite with `publicDir: false` and can white-screen the dev app —
Vite tries to resolve the public/ path as a module. Switch the five logo/
favicon call sites to the repo's existing BASE_URL URL pattern
(`${trimTrailingSlash(import.meta.env.BASE_URL)}/public/res/...`), matching how
config.json, locales, and the Element Call widget are referenced. Resolves
identically in dev and the static-copied prod build (public/res -> dist/public/res).
Sounds under public/sound/ stay ESM-imported: that folder is not copied to
dist/ by vite-plugin-static-copy, so a URL reference would 404.
Also add a Local Development section to the README (no-backend model, npm ci /
npm start on :8080, which homeserver to log in against, OIDC-on-localhost note).

- oidc/OidcCallback.tsx: standalone page that exchanges code+state via
completeAuthorizationCodeGrant (SDK validates state = CSRF), derives
user_id/device_id from the new access token via whoami(), persists the OIDC
session (refresh token + expiry + issuer/clientId/redirectUri/idTokenClaims),
then full-page-reloads at the app root. Minimal UI (no Overlay/portal) so it
needs no app providers.
- App.tsx: short-circuit — render OidcCallback before the RouterProvider when the
path is the OIDC callback (redirect_uris can't contain a fragment, so it must
live outside the hash router). The nginx SPA catch-all already serves index.html
for it.

- oidc/oidcState.ts (pure, +3 tests): dynamic-registration cache (by issuer +
redirectUri, corrupt-tolerant) and parseOidcCallbackParams (success/error/invalid).
- oidc/oidcLoginUtil.ts: getOrRegisterClientId (cache + registerOidcClient) and
startOidcLogin (discoverAndValidateOIDCIssuerWellKnown -> generateOidcAuthorization
Url -> redirect; invalidates the cache on failure). redirectUri is the
deterministic getOidcCallbackUrl(), and the SDK returns clientId/issuer on
callback, so no hand-rolled transient state is needed.
- login/OidcLogin.tsx: native-OIDC button mirroring SSOLogin + TokenLogin async/error.
- login/Login.tsx: issuer-gated — when discovery advertises an issuer, render
OidcLogin and suppress password/legacy-SSO; non-OIDC servers unchanged.

Toward MSC3861/MSC2965 next-gen-auth login (P4-6), client-only.
- cs-api.ts: type the stable `m.authentication` well-known key + getOidcIssuer()
(stable preferred over the unstable msc2965 key; {} for non-OIDC servers).
- useParsedLoginFlows.ts: getOidcCompatibilityFlag() (MSC3824 oauth_aware_preferred
/ delegated_oidc_compatibility) as a secondary OIDC hint.
- New pages/auth/oidc/oidcConfig.ts: dynamic-registration client metadata + the
non-hash callback URL (redirect_uris can't contain a fragment).
- paths.ts: OIDC_CALLBACK_PATH.
- 8 unit tests for the pure helpers.
